When our much-anticipated speaker had to cry off due to illness shortly before our District Day, we were thrown into confusion...but only temporarily....
Our theme of 'Hidden Treasures' WOULD go ahead in Exeter, and Bev Smeardon gave us a great presentation on the 'treasure' that is faith-rooted community organising; Rev Deborah Kirk got us sharing various 'treasures' in our own lives; Marilyn Lewis and Kathryn Trotman sent us on a scavenger hunt to find each other's 'hidden treasures', which meant that most of the 40 or so present spoke to most of the others there, and they concluded our Day with a fitting reflection.
Add in Kathryn's Induction as President; Anne Browse and Pat Stead keeping us all in check, informed, and leading worship; Carol Batchelor helping us to choose names for our (as yet unborn) Hearing Dog (Wesley for a boy and Susannah for a girl were suggested); and the vote for our new charity [SolarAid - an excellent choice for the next two years, when we hope to raise at least £10k - Solar Aid works with local communities to provide light for children to study, women to cook, and clinics to operate. For instance, in one of Malawi's poorest and most remote regions, every household, school and the local clinic now has clean, reliable solar power, thanks to Solar Aid.], and it's obvious that the day was jam-packed with fun, fellowship and learning.
Thanks go to Janet and Pete at St Thomas's Methodist Church for seeing us through the Day; to all who led us and informed us and entertained us; and to all the women [and a couple of intrepid chaps] who came along to share the Day - we hope to see more of you at the next one!

The Temple Trekkers usually meet most Monday mornings for a walk of between 5 and 7 miles. Recent walks have included a walk from Blue Anchor to Dunster (and back).
Lifts can be arranged if you fancy joining us now the weather is improving.
There is now a newer group – Temple Plodders – who walk a shorter distance (up to about 4 miles) and afterwards some members usually find a garden centre or tea room for a cup of coffee or a light lunch and continue the conversations.
All are welcome to walk with either group.
