The butterfly image used for MWiB represents aspects of our Christian belief
The life cycle of the butterfly has four distinct stages:
The egg: Jesus still offers new life to all who believe in him.(John 3: 1 – 8)
The caterpillar: As we feed on the Word of God we grow as disciples. (2 Timothy 3: 15 – 17)
The chrysalis: Prayer is the powerhouse for the Christian who waits on the Lord. (Ephesians 3: 16)
The butterfly: A symbol of resurrection, new life in Christ, freedom and perfection (2 Corinthians 5: 17)
The Story of the Butterfly. One day a young woman came across a chrysalis and saw that it was just beginning to open. She decided to help the emerging butterfly on its way and so prised open the chrysalis. The butterfly emerged but its wings could never function. It had needed the time of struggle in order for the wings to be fully formed. We are sometimes tempted to try and force God’s hand. In our impatience, we forget that we learn through perseverance.
Creator God, who delights in beauty and sees potential within each of us; we thank you for opportunities of a fresh start, a new beginning. We hunger for your Word, your life in us. We wait upon you now, trusting you to create in us the exquisite being you intend. Set us free to glorify your name. Amen
Drop by the Well – a place to come and enjoy and share
There is something ancient and enduring about women coming together – in kitchens, around sickbeds, in churches – and at WELLS… Stories are shared; life is shared.
We gather; we share; we connect.
[Interesting fact: The word ‘gossip’ comes from the Old English godsibb, a compound of ‘god’ and ‘sibb’ (relative/kin) - a trusted friend – so conversation is so much more than ‘catching up’: it is repair and strength, wisdom and healing, power and load-sharing, laughter and caring.]
Texting isn’t the same as sitting together. Around the well, we gather and we listen.
So Methodist Women in Britain in the Circuit invites you to join us at the well for BRUNCH at Lisieux Way Church between 10.00 and 12.00 noon on Saturday 2 May. Parking available. The event is free, but donations welcome, of course.
We will eat and talk, and enjoy discussions, art, crafts – or just the best sort of gossip – and we will leave refreshed…
Please note that although this brunch is arranged by MWiB, it is open to ALL - DO JOIN US. Further details can be had from Elaine Banks
Also there will be a MiWB weekend at Lee Abbey from 8th to the10th May. Go to the Lee Abbey website for more information and details about the programme, accommodation prices and booking.
All are welcome.

The Temple Trekkers usually meet most Monday mornings for a walk of between 5 and 7 miles. Recent walks have included a walk from Blue Anchor to Dunster (and back).
Lifts can be arranged if you fancy joining us now the weather is improving.
There is now a newer group – Temple Plodders – who walk a shorter distance (up to about 4 miles) and afterwards some members usually find a garden centre or tea room for a cup of coffee or a light lunch and continue the conversations.
All are welcome to walk with either group.

CRAFT GROUP
The craft group meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 2.30pm until 4.30pm.
Most people knit and crochet but there are also some sewers.
Over the past few years they have made a great variety of things for the Church, from 108 pew cushions for the gallery; things for the craft fair, banners, Christmas decorations, a flower arch and a Christmas tree.
For charity- knitted patchwork blankets, sewn quilts, beanies, bonnets for newborn babies, doorstops, Dachshund draught excluders etc.
We are now starting a second Craft Group, which will be on the first Monday of the month from 2.00pm until 4.00pm, the first meeting will be on the 2nd of March.
All are welcome, we would love to see you and please bring any ideas for projects.
